I hope you are reading this because you are planning to sign up for our Seven Day Writing Challenge which kicks off tomorrow!
January is a tricky month-we feel we HAVE to make changes because everyone else is, but if we are really honest with ourselves all we really want to do is eat biscuits and watch Netflix!
This is the bleakest, darkest time of the year and the last thing any of us should be doing is making it any harder than it needs to be. Why punish ourselves? If you really want to start new diets/exercise regimes/stop eating biscuits/kick the Netflix habit into touch (Really? Are you sure?!-in January??) then who am I to say otherwise but be kind to yourself because so many New Year Resolutions fall at the first hurdle and then we are all crippled with feelings of failure. Change is all about timing-January does not HAVE to be YOUR time.
Specificity or the quality of being clear and exact is so important when we want to make change because if we are too broad or vague when we talk about our ideas and write down our goals, it is will much harder to work out what we really need to do to achieve those all important changes.
How many of you will actually write and send Christmas cards this year? I completely get the very valid environmental reasons for NOT doing this BUT…I still think that there is nothing better than actually receiving and sending meaningful and sustainable cards and letters at any time of year, and if they are handcrafted then ...
I get asked a lot about positivity-actually I have one 'friend' who simply cannot stand the fact that I am often positive and he maintains that the whole thing is a complete nonsense and that I am deluded. As I am a regular human being (which he clearly failed to observe) I am NOT positive all of the time at all.
Something astonishing happens when we pick up a pen and starting writing down our ideas and dreams on paper. This simple act has the power to kickstart a dramatic transformation in our mindset, our attitude to life, and in our whole being.
