I am a journalist and writer who has worked for newspapers, magazines, TV and online for the last 30 years. I have also written books, appeared on TV and radio and lecture in journalism and PR. I have worked in the world of corporate communications as a manager, and also help to run The Community Media Group, a social enterprise that exists to produce professional, community newspapers in socially challenging areas as well as providing free training. I now work as a personal development coach as well as a freelance journalist, script writer and university lecturer. My first novel is also work in progress!

To write or not to write…THAT is the question!

Indecisiveness...it's a tricky one. It's not procrastination, its not laziness or stubborness. It is simply an inability to make a decision and it can happen for a number of reasons.

You can use daily journaling and writing to deal with a whole raft of situations and challenges—it’s simply a case of embracing the process and making your daily writing practice something that becomes part of your routine and something that you think of as a positive investment in your future.

Daily journaling…what’s the point?

Daily journaling is not new—of course it isn't! We have written stuff down since the beginning of time for loads of different reasons and following the launch of our first online course I have had a few questions about why writing and journaling really works and what the real point of it all is, and another question about the difference between journaling and keeping a diary.

What’s stopping you?

When I work with clients to get clarity and make a plan to achieve new things we always go through the well tried and tested SWOT test. It may be old fashioned but it works and I use it all the time. We look at our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for change and threats and while we are always pretty good at looking at our weaknesses and can usually spot an opportunity that will help us, the strengths and threats bit of the formula often causes us problems and keeps us stuck.
